Victoria College signs Taft's Martinez to letter of intent

Volleyball Signee (Taft) Taft’s Anisa Martinez, seated center, signed a letter of intent Wednesday to play volleyball at Victoria College.

TAFT – The Victoria College Pirates added the third member of their volleyball team on Wednesday by signing Taft right-side hitter Anisa Martinez to a letter of intent.

Martinez was the Offensive Player of the Year last season in District 29-3A.

“The love and passion I’ve had for the game of volleyball drove me to want to compete at the next level,” Martinez said. “I am very excited to have this opportunity to play with a great group of girls that has the same goals as myself.”

The Pirates signed right-side hitter Gabby Weido of Columbus and middle blocker Hope Trevino of Los Fresnos on Tuesday.

Victoria College will begin competing in the National Junior College Athletic Association this fall and open the season at home on Aug. 22 against Wharton County Junior College.
